T-Six Urbanists is a creative design company with a core competency in urban design and town planning. Based in Calgary, Alberta we practice throughout North America as experts in sustainable urbanism and the design of walkable, compact, mixed-use places. Our clients include municipalities, developers, planning and engineering firms, and architects. We are a principled firm that delivers value to our clients with solutions built on time-tested principles, progressive design, and pragmatic implementation techniques.
Background
T-Six Principal Geoff Dyer has operated as an independent urban design consultant within Western Canada and throughout North America. He has worked with world renowned designers such as Leon Krier, Andres Duany, and Randall Arendt. Starting in early 2004 Geoff was co-principal and co-founder of Civic Design Group. Civic Design Group was a small but accomplished design firm and Calgary’s first firm with its core competency centred on urban design. Building from this legacy following the dissolution of Civic Design Group in late 2006, T-Six Urbanists was formed and became a full service design studio focused on urban design and town planning.
Geoff is also a Director in the U.S. based firm Placemakers LLC. Placemakers is a multifaceted planning and implementation firm that has been providing planning, coding, implementation and marketing to both private and public clients in the U.S. for the past five years. Through this relationship T-Six contributes its abilities to international level projects and, in turn, is able to convey its broad experience and highly skilled network of professionals to local western Canadian projects.
Our integrated studio employs skilled practitioners who are trained specifically in urban design and town planning. We are committed to a high quality design product commensurate with international level expertise.
As the recipients of two awards: Charter Award 2004, Congress for the New Urbanism (International Avenue Design Initiative); and the Arthur Ross Award 2006, Institute of Classical Architecture (Mississippi Renewal Forum); T-Six is becoming recognized as Calgary’s leading proponent of sustainable urbanism and the promotion of viable alternatives to conventional suburban development.
